Unha megaconstrución galega
Por iniciativa do meu fillo vexo un documental do Discovery Channel da serie Buildt it Bigger (Megaconstrucións) na que é protagonista Santiago de Compostela e a Cidade da Cultura. O condutor é un arquitecto estadounidense que durante varias semanas se misturou cos traballadores mentres trataba de atopar o sentido da obra deseñada polo seu compatriota Peter Eisseman. Nos seus comentarios non aforra eloxios a esta construción, que califica como unha das máis importante que se está a facer agora en Europa, aínda que tamén cita a polémica xurdida nunha “rexión das menos desenvolvidas” polo coste que a obra terá. No sei se a reportaxe foi un encargo da Xunta de Galicia, pero o certo é que outros documentais desta serie que xa teño ollado recollían megaproxectos como o eurotúnel ou a ponte de Millau, en Francia. Seica aquí aínda seguimos preguntándonos que imos facer con todos eses edificios tan eloxiados dende o mundo da arquitectura, pero a lo menos queda a satisfación de ver que dende fóra hai quen mira con envexa o que se está a facer en Galicia.
P.C.: No documental sae o que o presentador chama un dos xefazos, Vicente Quiroga, ex alcalde de Lugo e un dos responsables da execución da obra. Da súa etapa de rexedor quedan algunhas “megaconstruccións”, como os párkings soterrados. Outros so deixaron obriñas.
